Emergency communications respond to wild fire outbreaks

The latest to sufferer summer fires is Cyprus where radio amateurs are using their skills mainly on the VHF band in the Solea region to pass health and welfare traffic.

The involvement of hams is being coordinated by the Cyprus Amateur Radio Society. Firefighters are battling a huge forest blaze in high winds and temperatures with ground responders around the perimeter and aircraft from Greece, Israel, France and Italy.
