Festival provides Hams an emcomm exercise

The West Ben­gal Radio Club in India is pro­vid­ing log­i­cal help dur­ing a reli­gious fes­ti­val on Sagar Island, main­ly for lost chil­dren, as part of their emer­gency com­mu­ni­ca­tions training.

On the con­ti­nen­tal shelf of Bay of Ben­gal the island is a famous place for Hin­du pil­grims attract­ing thou­sands each Jan­u­ary for the Makar Sankran­ti festival.

West Ben­gal Radio Club is using the call­sign 8T5GSM Jan­u­ary 9–16 from IOTA AS-153, and wel­comes DX con­tacts. QSL via VU2NRO.
