WICEN in Blue Moun­tains search
The week long miss­ing of a 23-year old man in the Blue Moun­tains West of Syd­ney is con­tin­u­ing, led by the police res­cue with the help of vol­un­teers includ­ing WICEN mem­bers pro­vid­ing vital com­mu­ni­ca­tions in the rugged area.
WICEN inci­dent com­man­der Steven Heimann VK2BOS, reports that radio ama­teurs are involved in set­ting up strate­gic loca­tions for com­mu­ni­ca­tions to serve the search areas.
It has involved over 200 vol­un­teers from var­i­ous groups includ­ing Bush­walk­ers Wilder­ness Res­cue Squad, Rur­al Fire Ser­vice, State Emer­gency Ser­vice and WICEN, with sup­port by air­borne police helicopter.
Police hold grave fears for the man miss­ing in the moun­tain­ous cold area who was last seen leav­ing a work con­fer­ence at the Fair­mont Resort at Leu­ra ear­ly on Tues­day 16 July.
