WICEN in Blue Mountains search
The week long missing of a 23-year old man in the Blue Mountains West of Sydney is continuing, led by the police rescue with the help of volunteers including WICEN members providing vital communications in the rugged area.
WICEN incident commander Steven Heimann VK2BOS, reports that radio amateurs are involved in setting up strategic locations for communications to serve the search areas.
It has involved over 200 volunteers from various groups including Bushwalkers Wilderness Rescue Squad, Rural Fire Service, State Emergency Service and WICEN, with support by airborne police helicopter.
Police hold grave fears for the man missing in the mountainous cold area who was last seen leaving a work conference at the Fairmont Resort at Leura early on Tuesday 16 July.
