Ham Radio Emergency Communications in Poland
An agreement has been signed by the IARU’s Polski Zwiazek Krotkofalowcow (PZK) and the Government that formalises the use of ham radio emergency radio communications in disasters and at other times.
Minister of Administration and Digitisation (MAC), Michał Boni, and President of the Polish Amateur Radio Union (PZK), Jerzy Jakubowski SP7CBG, reached the agreement.
It promises cooperation between the Amateur Radio Service and the Polish government to provide support information on natural disasters and other events that threaten public safety.
The agreement encourages cooperation between the MAC and PZK in actions relating to back-up radio communication in emergency situations or when normal communications methods are overloaded.
Cooperation and coordination will be the responsibility of the Planning Department of Civil Emergency Management and Emergency Notification System.
Representatives from PZK will be Piotr Skrzypczak SP2JMR (Vice President), Rafał Wolanowski SQ6IYR (Emergency Communications Coordinator) and Hubert Anysz SP5RE (Deputy Coordinator of Emergency Communications).
Special thanks for consultation to Greg Mossop G0DUB the IARU Region 1 Emergency Communications Coordinator.
